Xcalak on the Fly is the Yucatan Peninsula’s newest fly fishing lodge based out of Casa Paraiso. At XOTF , our goal is to provide you with the most personalized and all-inclusive fly fishing experience. Our packages and trips were designed by fishing-obsessed father and son duo Jim and Chase Looney with anglers in mind.
Xcalak is a refreshingly undisturbed fishing village nestled along Mexico’s southernmost Caribbean coastline. In Xcalak, lush Mayan jungle meets turquoise Caribbean water. Fishing season here is year-round and the fish are abundant. With XOTF at Casa Paraiso, you’re sure to have a rewarding and relaxing time.
Why Xcalak? It's not just the beauty of the clear blue waters that makes Xcalak the ultimate fishing destination; it's the rich tapestry of ecosystems. From the nutrient-rich mangroves to the expansive flats and vibrant coral reefs, Xcalak offers the perfect habitat for a wide array of marine life, especially the coveted permit.
An All-Inclusive Experience:
For non-anglers accompanying our fishing expeditions to Xcalak, we offer a special rate that includes all the amenities and experiences minus the fishing excursions. For only $1500 this package includes shuttle services, lodging at our all-inclusive lodge, meals, and access to a variety of non-angling activities such as snorkeling, beachcombing, and tours of Mayan ruins.
"Welcome to Casa Paraiso, home of Xcalak on the Fly.
Casa Paraiso is an off-grid, eco-friendly lodge that offers four beachfront suites and can comfortably accommodate up to eight anglers. All four suites are oceanfront and feature patios with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea. Suites can be set up with one king size bed or two twins. There are private bathrooms in each suite and high-speed internet. Each suite has a ceiling fan to help keep you cool, as well as a locking safe for your personal belongings.
Casa Paraiso boasts 120ft of maintained beachfront, perfect for relaxing, tanning, or playing volleyball. With beach chairs and grass-topped cabanas throughout, we’re confident you’ll find a comfortable place to enjoy your morning coffee or share stories after exciting days on the water. Wash and store your gear with ease at the Casa Paraiso rod-washing station on your way to happy hour.
Catch a sunset (or a permit!) from our 200ft long dock. It’s a great place to practice casting or just hang-out with easy access to snorkeling and kayaking. Most importantly, it’s where you’ll meet your fishing guides each morning.
The Permit Palapa is where you will gather for breakfast, happy hour, and dinner. Our meals are thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients and inspired by the taste of the Caribbean.
A typical day of eating at Xcalak on the Fly starts in the Permit Palapa with a breakfast buffet at 7am. Stop in for coffee and a delicious meal before you head down the dock to meet your fishing guide. We also offer breakfast burritos “para llevar” to take on-the-go. You will eat lunch on the boat with your guide (usually a sandwich, chips, cookies, drinks). After your exciting day of chasing tails you’ll meet back in the Permit Palapa around 5pm for happy hour. We will have fresh chips and salsa with ice-cold cervezas waiting for you. Following happy hour an authentic meal will be prepared for dinner.
