Now enjoying a huge resurgence in popularity and utility, Coq de Leon is the hottest thing in fly tying. Coq de Leon roosters are the oldest genetic chicken line bred for fly tying feathers. Dating back several hundred years, these roosters have traditionally been bred only in Spain. Since the mid-1990's, Whiting Farms has continued the tradition by raising authentic Coq de Leon rooster stock from Spain.
Coq de Leon Rooster Saddles provide excellent natural tailing fibers from the center top feathers, sometimes known as the "spade hackles." You'll also find large size wed and dry fly saddle hackle for Skaters, Hexagenia, Wulffs and other larger flies.
