Michigan is full of naturalists, so it's no surprise that our box maker got his hands on this 450 year old Red Oak. The aged wood has a warmth you don't see too often in oak, and it pairs beautifully with the blonde maple of the sides.  Hand-carved trout figure "Brown Beauty" leaps in the carved oval inset. Inside: ripple foam on one side, flat foam on the other.  Small brass cylinder hinges and inset magnet closure catch for cleanest of looks.  Signed on back lid, upper left. Approximately 5 3/4 " long, 3 1/2" wide, 1 1/4" thick.
