Recently we were asked to design and create a rod sock and tube sleeve for a custom-made bamboo fly rod that was going to be raffled for a certain non-profit (Reel & Heal). That got us thinking. We'd already arranged to make tube sleeves for Ron Barch, the famous split cane bamboo rod maker and teacher (and editor of The Planing Form, publisher at Alder Creek Publishing)...so when Ron said he was going to mention us in his newsletter as being available to custom-make rod-socks and tube sleeves, we realized we'd better get some pictures up on the website. What do you call these things? Rod bags? Socks? Sleeves? Stockings? Well, in any case, we're making them now -- to order only. This one is made with 100% cotton duck, hand-printed with various fly-fishing insects. Yours can be plain, hand-dyed, printed, embroidered -- you name it. Prices start at $45 for a 2-piece stocking. We can use organic cotton, a blend of cotton and hemp, silk noil, and muslin. We sew them with an enclosed seam so your rod guides do not get caught on stray threads inside the sleeve.
